It’s likely that if you use AirPods, your real name is linked to the device’s name in iCloud. If you don’t want your real name attached to your AirPods, changing the name is a smart move.

Even if your pair of Apple AirPods doesn’t have built-in noise cancellation, you can still follow these instructions. All three versions of the AirPods—the standard, Pro, and Max—are included.

While wearing your AirPods, your iOS device will prompt you to rename your headphones. Having them synced with your iPhone is a necessity.

When you’re ready to use your paired device, open your iPhone’s Settings and choose Bluetooth from the list of networks (it should be below Wi-Fi).

Your connected devices will be shown here. You can give your AirPods a new moniker by tapping the info I button and then the Name option.

To give your AirPods a new moniker, select the name and tap the x button to its right. Click the Done button when you’re finished.

All of your gadgets, not just Apple ones, will now have the new AirPods moniker you choose. Unfortunately, Apple has yet to implement a way for Siri to let you rename your AirPods on any of your Apple devices.

How to Rename AirPods in macOS:

The AirPods’ moniker can be changed on a Macbook or desktop computer, too. To open your Mac’s System Preferences, select the Apple menu item from the menu bar’s upper-left corner.

After selecting the Bluetooth icon, you’ll see a list of connected devices on the right.

To begin, connect your AirPods to your Laptop through Bluetooth. Find the entry for your AirPods, then right-click it and select Rename.

Simply delete the current name, replace it with the new one, and then click the Rename button to finish the process.

How to Change AirPods Name in Android:

On an Android device, you may access the AirPods’ naming options in the Bluetooth settings menu.

When using AirPods with an Android device, you can adjust their settings by going to the phone’s Settings > Connected devices.

Any Bluetooth devices that are currently connected to your phone will be shown here.

You can adjust the settings for your AirPods by selecting them from the list of media devices (or coupled devices) and clicking the cog icon to the right of the device’s name. Use the edit icon (it looks like a pencil) to change the AirPods’ name.

Windows computers also allow you to give your AirPods a new moniker. The Windows app “AirPods – Find Me” is one of the places where your AirPods might be referred to.

You might not be able to rename your AirPods if the phrase “Find Me” is already part of the name.

Plug in your AirPods from Apple and open Windows’ Settings menu. The Control Panel can be accessed in two ways: by typing “Control Panel” into the search bar that displays beside the Start menu, or by pressing Ctrl + R.

  • Under the Settings menu, select Hardware and Sound, and then Display Devices and Printers.
  • All the devices connected to your computer at the moment will be shown.
  • Your AirPods will be one of these devices.
  • From the context menu, select Properties > AirPods.
  • For this setup, select the Bluetooth menu item.
  • To give your AirPods a new moniker, select the name, press deletes, and then type in the desired change.
  • Choose the OK button if you’re ready to continue.
